No artistic endeavor oozes integrity or ingenuity like a record where a hot, new performer reinterprets pieces that made older artists successful and beloved. After all, such a deceptively young performer is surely full-to-bursting with original ideas that are undoubtedly as good or better- but a sense of piety drives them to put aside all their fresh, innovative work and devote themselves to the immediately recognizable.
And then for that young (cherubic even) artist to call on some aforementioned legends of stage and screen to do the mitzvah of a paying gig which luxuriates them in praise and nostalgia and requires little to no effort... it’s a win-win-win (the third win is for YOU, dear listener). Who doesn’t want to hear performers of advanced age retread their classic material but now as an auxiliary?
Like all great duet albums (Germanotta and Bennett, Deschanel and Ward, Beach Boys and Manson) this record is the sound of many voices coming together; which we desperately need, as this great nation has never been more divided.

At the end of the day, Spencer Sapienza is just an old fashioned song and dance man at heart. They don’t make entertainers like him any more!
“Spencer blends in with the existing material so seamlessly it’s hard to believe these acts had ever performed without his deft touch.”
-Lorne Michaels and also Judd Apatow said this.
